Prof. amelia Oldfield

Amelia Oldfield worked as a music therapist with families with children with autism and other developmental difficulties for over 40 years. Amelia has now retired from clinical music therapy work at Richard's Music Therapy, but continues to supervise and over-see the work at the charity, as well as being a trustee.
Amelia is Emeritus Professor at Anglia Ruskin University on the music therapy MA training course. She has carried out three research investigations and provided consultancy on two large RCT trials in this clinical area. She has written extensively, and lectured all over the world on this topic. She has produced six music therapy training videos. In 2017 she was involved in making a documentary film combining excerpts of music therapy sessions with families with children with autism 16 years ago, with current interviews with these same families. The film producer, Max, also received music therapy treatment from Amelia with his father, 22 years ago when Max had a diagnosis of autism.
Dr. jo tomlinson

Jo Tomlinson worked as a music therapist in schools in Cambridgeshire between1995-2020 and was Head of Music Therapy for Cambridgeshire Music from 2002-2006. Jo currently works at Richard’s Music Therapy, Cambridge, working alongside families with pre-school children with special needs. As well as carrying out music therapy sessions at Richard's Music Therapy, Jo is also responsible for fund-raising for the charity.

Jo has co-edited two books on music therapy – ‘Music Therapy in Schools’ and ‘Flute, Accordion or Clarinet? Using the characteristics of our instruments in music therapy’, published by JKP, London. Jo completed her PhD at Anglia Ruskin University in 2017, based on her school-based research into collaboration with teaching assistants and verbal development in young children. Jo has presented her music therapy work at UK and international conferences.
